Calle Sol

by Kevin Moore
Before moving to Poland in late 1999, Rei Ceballo was the founding pianist of Azúcar Negra. It was Rei who played on the eight demo tracks which are now recognized among the best recordings of the golden era of 1990s timba.
As you can hear from the audio excerpts in our Discography section, Ceballo has combined Cuban singers with Polish musicians to create authentic timba similar to his work in Cuba. The band is still together but apparently doesn't tour much. If you can make to it Warsaw, Calle Sol is definitely the top attraction, and if you're involved in promotion, click on the Contacto link to reach Calle Sol's managers Barbara and Piotr.
